Lower Thames Crossing , head of ground engineering
Andrea is a geotechnical engineer and engineering geologist with nearly twenty years of experience in over thirty countries working for consultants and contractors, on the planning, design, construction, maintenance, demolition, damage and forensic assessments associated with a wide range of types of projects. His experience is predominantly on large scale, high profile buildings and infrastructure projects including bridges, TBM, SCL, C&C and immersed tunnels, highways, railways, reclamation and ports & maritime. Andrea has authored several technical papers and been the recipient of a number of scholarships and awards including the ICE-Thomas Telford Premium and BGA-Fleming Award. He has joined Arcadis in 2017 as technical director and, ever since, has taken the role of Head of Ground Engineering for LTC CASCADE joint venture (Jacobs-Arcadis-Cowi JV) that is Highways England’s Technical Partner on the Lower Thames Crossing. His responsibilities in this scheme include compiling the desk study and the preparation of the ground investigations specifications, ground model, geotechnical, hydrogeological and geo-environmental assessments, design and deliverables including GIS outputs.
