Asim Gaba is a Director and Trustee of Arup with more than 35 years of design, commercial and project management experience on major multi-disciplinary international infrastructure projects across Europe, Asia and North America. He is Arup’s Global Skills Leader in Ground Engineering and Project Director and Leader of the multi-national DJV delivering the design of the main civil works for the two southern sections of the new high speed (HS2) rail project between London and Birmingham, UK. Asim graduated from the University of Oxford with a first class honours degree in Engineering Science; a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering with distinction from Imperial College, London; and a first class honours degree in Law from London University. He is a Fellow of the ICE, London; a Fellow of the Geological Society, London; RoGEP Registered Geotechnical Advisor; and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Asim has authored more than 30 peer reviewed publications on technical research, engineering design and construction, management, contractual and legal matters. He is lead author of the Construction Industry Research and Information Association’s best-selling state of the art design guidance books (CIRIA C580 and C760) and section editor of the Institution of Civil Engineers Manual of Geotechnical Engineering. He currently serves on technical, engineering, professional accreditation and legal committees and boards in the UK and internationally.
