Starting her civil engineering career with Arup after graduating in 1978, and following a research MSc in Geotechnical Engineering at Cornell University, Christina has more than 35 years' experience as a Chartered Civil Engineer and geotechnical specialist. She has extensive experience of infrastructure and regeneration projects, working at a senior level as a civil engineering project director. Joining Amey in 2009, she was appointed the Managing Agent Geotechnical Liaison Engineer (MAGLE) for the Highways Agency Managing Agent Contract Area 9 (MAC9) (2009 – 2014) and in 2013 she was part of an expert witness team for an international arbitration hearing on a major overseas rail design project. As a Technical Director with CH2M since 2016, Christina champions technical excellence in geotechnical services and best practice in geotechnical asset management. She was the resource manager of engineering and design in the Birmingham and Derby offices, responsible for over 40 staff in the geotechnical, highways, rail and structures teams. She is now taking up a senior role in the leadership group of the European Tunnel and Ground Engineering practice in Jacobs. Christina is an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham and has been appointed Visiting Professor of Asset Management, sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering (2015 – 18). She contributes to various geotechnical research programmes at the University of Birmingham and is an external advisor on the iSMART infrastructure research programme. Christina received the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2015.
