David has been a Chartered Engineering Geologist for 10 years and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London. His experience covers a variety of infrastructure and transportation projects, including extensive work in the Railway sector. David has acted as Project Manager, Design Manager, Technical Reviewer and Network Rail CRE and ARE (Geotechnical). He is involved in all stages of the project lifecycle; feasibility, investigation, monitoring, optioneering and design/check of both new and remedial works. He also maintains his involvement through construction and operation.

Currently, David is the East West Rail Phase 2 Alliance Responsible Engineer (ARE) for Earthworks & Geotechnics. This £1Bn strategic rail scheme will upgrade more than 20 miles of existing single track and mothballed railway corridor. He leads a talented team of up to 50 ground engineering professionals who are taking the design forwards.  David is currently involved in the development of digital initiatives and new ways of working to improve the delivery of geotechnical engineering. He actively encourages the use of monitoring and emergent technologies to target interventions.
